Italcotto was founded by the late Angelo Marchesini in 1986 applying the experience gained from establishing and managing the regional branch of a national ceramic tile supplier. Angelo did extensive market research in terracotta products and associated technologies and opportunities in the building industry before opening the doors of Italcotto for the first time. At the time Italcotto`s clients were mostly from within the building trade. Angelo`s love for the style and earthy essence of clay roof tiles prompted him to re-introduce these to the South African market. Italcotto Centre the current premises of Italcotto, opened in 1995.
